WebPlus X6: I'm creating a click on / pop up restaurant menu is PDF Doc the way to go?

Hi All

As the heading says really.

I am building a site for a Chinese restaurant and need to create a restaurant menu that will pop up when clicked on.

I've been browsing other restaurant sites and most seem to use a pop up PDF style doc.

Is there a reason why they don't tend to add the restaurant menu as simply another page on the site ?

I was just thinking not everyone has Adobe reader installed, especially on a tablet / mobile device.

Which is the best way to go?

Also its not something I've done before ( PDF pop up on page ) so if that's the best way to go any quick how to guide would be very much appreciated.

WebPlus X7: HTML5 Semantic mark-up

I eagerly awaited the launch of Webplus X7 with its "move towards" HTML5 and CSS.. having already highlighted the problem with the line height error in the CSS coding (day one of launch) I've learnt to use the work-around.

Next problem - when analysing my new website built with X7 using SEORCH I find my site is "down-graded" in SEO terms as there is no semantic mark-up found in my code.

Isn't the whole point of HTML5 that is makes use of semantic mark-up - but Webplus X7 doesn't use it, or even seem to offer the option to add semantic mark-up?

I'm trying to defend Webplus that I've been using since X4 but Dreamweaver just seems to offer me so much more.

Hi there fellow webplus friends!

I've had someone advise me on the SEO of my website.
They have advised me that...

The page contains invalid mark-up.

The Tag 'a' was not closed correctly, the Tag 'span' was closed instead.

Action:

Analyse the mark-up for errors.

Would anyone be able to help me with this please!?
I have no idea what it means! Let alone how to fix it!! :(

Red line disapeared

As I was working on my pages I had a lovely red line that appeared and I used it to line up the pictures on the page. It seems to have disappeared. Could anyone help me locate it again?

Morning, I'm hoping someone can help.

Using WebPlus X6

I'm having problems with using lightboxes for product pages. The following link: http://tinyurl.com/9v4s2bw - the "Product Options" button sends you to a lightbox of the homepage rather than the product options. Clicking on the image works fine and if you right-click and open in another tab / window seems to work...

This has only recently stopped working properly.

I'm in the middle of planning an update of my main website. (Just starting to play with X7.......)

So I decided to have a look at what's current in web design.

WebPlus X7: Possible bug in tables

Has anybody tried using tables in X7?

There may possibly be an issue with how the table rows render in the browser as compared to the workspace view.

See this thread:

There are nine rows of the table set at 23px high and four at 34px high. However in the browser the 23px rows render at 33px high adding 90px to the height of the table.

Don't have X7 so can't check myself. Could somebody give it a go and see if the issue is replicable.

Hi everyone. I'm playing around with image galleries and I installed the WOWSlider. Also on the page are other other javascript enabled items such as a panel slider and an Opacity action. How do I make the image gallery work and therefore not be in conflict with the other javascripts.

WebPlus X6: Right-aligned text is left-aligned on mobile

I have created a text style (in WebPlus X6) based on Normal (I originally based it on Body, but it makes not difference). When you view the details in the Text Style Palette it says this:

Normal + Font: Tahoma, 14 pt; Text colour: Scheme Colour 3 + Alignment: Right; Space after: 1 pt; Line spacing: 120%

I noticed that on my PC the text aligns to the right but when I look at it on my Samsung Galaxy Ace mobile phone it aligns left. When I view the source code under the text.css section it shows this:

.Builder-header-C
{
font-family:"Tahoma", sans-serif; color:#d05b2a; font-size:19.0px; line-height:1.47em;
}

So no mention of alignment.

And next to the text it is applied to - in the source code - it's preceded with these two class codes but again no mention of alignment:

Any ideas?

WebPlus X7: Creating a username and password function

I work as shareholder for a new business known as Urban Class who, while selling shoes, want to focus on a membership of sorts. I have four questions, each of which can be found at the bottom of my post

(1) Let me outline what I want the end result to be:

-There should be no registering option on the website.
-There should be a sign in/log in page where users can go to sign in/log in.
-There should be a sign in/log in option.
-New users can only be added by me manually adding in their username and password in serif then uploading the site.
-Users should have their own personal page (Only 1 for each user but should have the possibility to be viewed by other users).
-We may need it so that the homepage "www.urbanclass.co.uk" contains only the login page (preferably with a design theme/pictures) with no navigation bar or anything else. Once logged in, the real website reveals itself (Navigation bar, other pages etc.)
-The username is not the email of the user (E.G. Hotmail, Gmail etc).
-Each user should have a display name.

(2)Here's the process of how people receive their username and password:

-Every box of shoes will come with a small piece of paper hidden inside that contains a username and password.
-They can then use that username and email to sign in/log in to the site.
-They should also be able to change their passwords, or at the very least I should be able to change it for them.

(3)But currently, due to the way that WebPlus is, I can only do this:

-Give each box of shoes with a piece of paper containing a 12 digit code and the Urban Class email, let's assume the email is membership@urbanclass.co.uk.
-The customer sends the 12 digit code with the email that they want to use for the website to membership@urbanclass.co.uk. If they don't add an email we assume it's the one they sent the code with.
-We check to see if the code is right, and if it is then we add them to the allowed users through Access Control.
-An email with a random password is sent to them automatically if I select "Email User".
-The user receives the password and can now log on to the website by just clicking on the navigation bar and typing in their email and password.

Here are my questions:

-What is the closest I can get to achieving option (1) and (2)?
-Should I just stick with option (2) instead and tweak a few things? (I'm only going to do this if option (1) and (2) are impossible)
-Is there are any other drag and drop website building software I can use instead to more easily create this function?
-Which parts of option (1) and (2) possible?

WebPlus X6: Improving functionality of site search

Currently using WebPlus X6 (just got X7 but have not install it yet.)

Is there something I can do to improve the functionality of the site search that is included in WebPlus? Or would I be better served by using a more advanced site search like Sphider or similar.

Currently the site search seems to be completely ignoring some pages, i.e. will not return results even if content/title of a certain page is searched. Results seem spotting on many other pages as well.

Anyway I have just recieved my new copy of WPx7, which I have installed,

Question is when the patch is released how do I save a copy of this for future use on a disk or say a flash drive.

Where would I be able to download it?

Is there any tangible benefit of converting my x6 site to the new x7 platform other than better HTML5 coding or should I just leave as is?

Iv'e done a test and it screws up CSS and other issues so not relishing any change to be honest.

WebPlus X7: Panel popup problems

I have a website that was done with WP X6 and I am in process of switching to a different host and am trying to use WP X7. I have uploaded only the home page and a slideshow which should popup. All works fine in Firefox & Chrome but internet explorer 9 & 11 both do not work.

WebPlus X6: Button to Mimic 'Checkout' of PayPal MiniCart

I am trying to create a Button to Mimic 'Checkout' of PayPal MiniCart.

When using the PayPal MiniCart, it has the yellow 'Checkout' button. I want to create another button elsewhere on my page that reads "Checkout Now" that will have the exact function that the one in the MiniCart does.

I see where I can create a PayPal View Cart button, and I would have thought that to be the solution, however when items are in my MiniCart and I click the View Cart button, it just opens up a page with no items in a cart.

Hopefully that makes sense.

Any suggestions?

I am building a site for my local village.
I need an option to enable members only to be able to upload photos directly to a site gallery located on a webpage?

Secondly is it possibly for members to upload files to a webpage for visitors to view?

I am used to using X6 but very limited when it comes to coding..

WebPlus X5: How do I set up a subscription form with options for different amounts

Hi. I'd like to set up a subscription form with radio buttons that allow users to choose a specific amount. I've tried it with the subscription form, and while I can add options with different dollar amounts, I'm required to indicate the terms (dollar amount and billing cycle) that apply to all of the options -- thus overriding an amount selected using the buttons.

Should I use a different kind of form? I can't find any that provide for an option to set up a subscription.
