WebPlus X6: Border Tool Greyed Out

Hi

Hope someone can help with this strange problem. I went to use the border tool in Format | Lines and Borders and the checkbox is greyed out and doesn't allow me to select a border to any object, i.e rectangles, (not text boxes). Anyone else have this problem or is there a setting somewhere that needs to be ticked on? I have searched everywhere but can't find anything.
