I have a form which needs a PHP script processor which I named savetariff.php on a hard drive. If I point X6 at that local script and ask X6 to embed, then when I publish to my local server sure enough the script is there as savetariff.php in the root folder.
If I ask X6 to export it to the wpscripts folder then I get a message that it has been re-named to savetariff-1.php and also for good measure savetariff.php is also there! Only 1 other file in there currently. Not a major issue but a quite annoying niggle. The wpscripts folder was emptied prior to publish so no rubbish left around. Makes no difference whether you link or embed or even state a preferred file name. This is certainly unwanted behaviour and the first time I've come across it having used scripts a lot recently without issue. I might want to use the script from another page. How many am I going to end up with? I might have written code that refers to a specific script etc..
I can understand it with the same graphic being renamed under its different incarnations from different pages but 1 script?
Generally when using the script on disc option, if you make any changes to the script it is a gotcha which has caught me many times, to not remember to force the reselection of the script if you ask for it to be embedded or indeed linked. In fact I always set the form to no action, save and then select the script again. This seems to be the safest option.
I did see a couple of tutorials a long while back on using Forms To Go, which suggested that pointing X6 at a local or remote script didn't work. Can be a bit flaky as here but generally works OK.
