WebPlus X4: Layering Master pages and Content.

I have some graphics which are to occur on all pages (blank buttons / banners) so I placed them on a master page. The problem is that they appears behind the content of all the pages.

Yes, I can change the order of content/master in the page properties .. but then I have the same problem but the other way round. ie. I have the buttons from the master sitting on the background graphic of the content pages as they should be - but I can't drop text onto these buttons because it falls behind the button ... and clicking "bring to front" won't move it.

I tried adding a style to the graphic and giving it a huge z-index (!important) but it still reverts to "auto" when displayed in a browser.. and therefore hidden behind the background graphics on each of the content pages.

Not sure if I am making myself clear here - but basically there are 3 layers ... the bottom layers is the background image on the content pages .. then the middle layer contains the blank buttons and banners from the master page .. and the top layer is the text I want to lay onto the blanks.

I know I could put the blanks onto the content page too and problem solved .. BUT .. I would like them on a Master page so I can edit them in one fell swoop if I need to and not have to edit umpteen pages.

Am I asking too much of WPX4?
