I am using WebPlus X6 and I have a number of problems with the Buttons and Navigation Bars which Webplus produces. These problems occur both in the IDE and also when I test the published web page on a Windows PC, which is the only kind of machine I have access to at the moment, and they occur both in Internet Explorer (IE9) and in FireFox (20.0.1) but not in Chrome or in Safari.
The first problem is that the "down state" shows only when I click the mouse down near the edges of the button but it does not show when I click the mouse down on or near the actual button text. I have this problem both with buttons that I edit using the button designer and also with the "stock" buttons that WebPlus provides (only of course with buttons where the down state is different from the other states). Does everyone else have this problem, or am I doing something wrong?
I thought I could minimize the problem by using a stock WP button which does not have a down state that is different from the hover state, but this just makes another different problem even more obvious. This second problem happens when I hold the mouse down over a button and move the mouse a little before releasing it for the click (as lots of web users and others accidentally do from time to time).
Under these conditions the hyperlink or other button click action does not occur (which is of course normal under these conditions for programs running in Windows generally). However, the button then (correctly) returns to its normal state /only/ if the initial mouse down was over the button text itself. If the initial mouse down was elsewhere on the button (away from the text it contains) then the button remains in the state it took up when I hovered the mouse over it and the state it was also in which I clicked the mouse down on it. Sometimes, depending on exactly whereabouts on the button I perform this action, the button can take up other erroneous states.
These problems mean that in a set of buttons (or a Navigation bar) which is used for navigating the pages of your site, the user can become very confused because a button can appear in its "hover" state even when the mouse is nowhere near it and in many cases more than one button can be in its "this is the page we are on" state (very confusing for the user).
Note that (at least on my PC) these problems occur only in Internet Explorer and in FireFox, but between them those browsers have a considerable share of the PC browser market so I can't really ignore them. Does anyone have any ideas why this is happening, or perhaps know of any tweaks to fix it?
