WebPlus Starter Edition: JavaScript galleries show preloaders and NOT thumbnails

Hopefully someone can shed some light on this.

I'm creating a page with multiple JavaScript galleries. One gallery and it works fine, however two or more and i start seeing preloader icons rather than thumbnails on the galleries. Different ones do or don't display on a page refresh! Also this seems to be a problem in IE. Chrome seems fine - havent tried any other browsers.

The flash galleries work fine but of course I cant use them because of ipads etc.

(ps using WP SE for this page as the idea is for the client to use it to edit the galleries himself)
